My sister is very non-technical, so when she said she wanted a photostick, I knew she was looking for a complete plug and play device. This sounded like just the thing, but I decided I would test and make a little video for her in case she had trouble. I have a fairly new Android phone, so I didn’t anticipate any problems. Generally, the problem is that the phone doesn’t recognize the Photostick drive. I did all the things suggested–delete the app and reinstall. Unplug and replug the device. I thought it was a bad stick, so I tried it on my PC. Worked like a charm there, but that is not what I was trying to back up. Back to the phone, I tried a generic USB stick to see if the phone could even detect USB drives. It does–just not the Photostick. When I use the back arrow, to go back to the main menu, I get this message: “An error occurred selecting the root folder. Please try again”. I have already been through the tutorial and troubleshooting online, but didn’t find a solution. So, for my phone, it doesn’t work. I am afraid to send it to my sister, because if it doesn’t work immediately out of the box, she won’t know what to do.
I have an old phone I used before I bought the new one and decided to test it on that one. I had better luck with that one. At first I had the same problem with it, but by leaving the stick plugged in while I restarted the phone, it then recognized the stick and it worked as advertised. Based on testing with 2nd phone, I would have given it 4 stars.
If I were buying it for my phone 1 star, for my old phone 4 stars. I am going to send it to my sister, but I think there is a 50/50 chance that it will work (an expensive experiment).

I am delighted with the PhotoStick! I can see all my photos in one place, as advertised. However I gave 4 stars as I am a little disappointed that there are duplicates, when I understood that there would be none. some photos have 3 or 4 duplicates. I did ensure that the appropriate button was checked, so I’m not sure what happened.
Also, I was surprised to see not only photos but documents too, which I didn’t expect. Fortunately there is plenty of room on the PhotoStick.

This stick can only search your phone gallery for photos, NOT able to search apps…i.e. Facebook, Instagram, Google photos, etc. So any photos saved anywhere but your phone Gallery, computer hard drive or tablet photos file will not be searched and saved to the photo stick. The way its advertised makes it sound like the stick will search and save all photos no matter where they are saved…umm NO thats not so. Beware before buying that you are computer literate to enable to save from other apps. Don.t recommend this product ..very disappointed.

Love this USB stick! I’m not tech savvy. I know enough to get by. Anything difficult, I have to ask for help. This was so easy. If it’s a phone, you have to have a full charge on it before you start. I plugged it into my phone, it said to go to the App Store to get the app. I did that & the procedure started. It wanted to know what I wanted to download. I clicked on pictures & it started. I had over 5,000 pictures & videos on my phone, so it took over an hour. At one point I had to pause the download & unplug ThePhotoStick because my battery had to be charged again. When I had what I figured would be enough of a charge to finish, I plugged it back into my phone & it started up where it left off & finished the download. After it was done it gave me the opportunity to check to see if all the photos were on the stick. I scanned through it & was happy that everything appeared to be there.
I like that I didn’t have to jump through hoops to get this to work & that I was able to free up all that space on my phone. The next thing I’m going to do is get the photos off my computer!

The photo stick started working on my lap top and the half way through it decided it wasn’t compatible and stopped. It downloaded my videos but not my photos and now I can’t do anything else with it.

Read the instructions. The default setting will pick up WAY more than you want or need. For instance, be sure your recycle bin is empty because it will find everything. Deselect the OS and program files or it will pick up files within there as well Carefully select which formats you need too. It saves files two ways: By file type or by your file structure. I find the file structure type to be more useful. The saving by file type (the default) puts all the files from every entry and all programs on a list strictly by type. This can be useful if all you want are specific types of files. It doesn’t appear to work on XP or other older OS’s. I’m still trying to get it to work on WIN 7. Works great on Win 10. Over all I’m happy with it.

It was not obvious figuring out how to get this to work. And it hasn’t been seamless. Then they changed the app somewhat. My ability to easily eject the photostick stopped working, and I had to find an alternate way. Now that I’ve got a method that works, I appreciate having it. However, I wonder if a time will come that the app doesn’t work and the stick isn’t usable. I’ve had other USB sticks stop working and be useless.

My phone photos were taking up most of the space on my phone’s storage. The PhotoStick was easy to operate, but took a lot of patience. with my high volume of photos, it took quite a long time to download them. The company suggests having your phone fully charged before using. There’s a good reason. My phone’s battery was drained twice before totally downloading my photos. There is a pause feature that can be used while re-energizing your phone, but it took me two days to get all my photos on “the Stick”. Having said that. I now have a “flash drive” that has all my photos, and today, I’lll start removing all but my essential photos from my phone. The wait was worth it.

This product was not compatible with my device and have returned it for a refund. I read all the current reviews that have been posted and noticed that quite a few of them were not complimentary about this product. If I had read the reviews I probably wouldn’t have purchased it. There’s a lot hype and advertising on YouTube about this very expensive product, I don’t recommend anyone purchasing this product. Also, if you do purchase this product please test it as soon as you receive delivery to enable you to return it within the 30 Day Returns limit.

Just got the photostick a couple days ago. Was easy enough to download the app. Made the backup as instructed. Needto research the product to see how to store photos and save to files. This process is not clear.

Charge the battery on your device because the PhotoStick uses the charge port, and it’s been running for about two hours on my iPad and only 62% done. There’s only 52% battery juice left. In order to get a charger on I’m going to have to, what? cancel the backup. Now I’m wondering if the PhotoStick will share the charge port with a splitter. TWO HOURS and only 62% DONE. Whew. And the PhotoStick will not work with a lightning splitter. I also suspect it’s trying to backup the videos I’ve downloaded from streaming services, which I don’t really want backed-up. I have 4-6 streaming downloads on the iPad at any given time. I don’t want them as part of my photo/video archive. There also doesn’t appear to be a way to organize the files. They go on organized in folders, but once they are on the PhotoStick they don’t appear to be in any logical order.
Backing up the iPhone took OVER 6 HOURS used 57% of battery, then went into PHOTOSTICK MOBILE NOT ACCESSIBLE mode. When I attempted to Chat with Support, the chat applications DID NOT WORK on my iOS browser. Also when attempting to clear the device there was NO DELETE OPTION available as shows up in the app examples. I mean, how bad can it get? Really?
